Conspiracy me this….Batman!

We are living in uncertain times it would seem.

Or are we?  Riddle me this Batman!

I am curious by nature.  Currently I am working on my second publication which is purely fiction.  Still I’m doing a lot of research to support the story I’m telling.

I want this story to unfold with a  degree of authenticity to it.   Use modern information, etc.

In my travels over the world-wide web recently I have been coming across several conspiracy theories.  The most recent is the Flat Earth Society.  I’m not sure who began this, or if it has simply remained in place since the beginning of  our kind, but the belief is that the earth is a flat and immobile.  Someone has managed to convince a few high-profile athletes such as Shaq O’Neal that this theory is in fact truth.

An odd thing happens when a ‘celebrity’ weighs in on something.  Suddenly the preposterous can seem plausible.    Why is that?

Shaq states he has driven from Florida to California several times and it’s always been flat.  So…that means the the world is indeed flat.  Alrighty then.

Stating that this planet of ours is stationery and that the sun does indeed revolve around us at a distance of only 3,000 miles and is really  just a little bigger than our moon sounds ludicrous at best.

Then of course the fact that NASA is completely fabricated and designed to hide the truth from us.  The Flat Earth Society insists there has never been any space travel…ever!  So no images of the earth from space have every been taken.  All of the images we’ve viewed have been fabricated.

The Mars rover is on a dessert somewhere or maybe in Arizona and the images are then adjusted to give the appearance of other-worldliness.

Hmmm!

My question would then be why would governments go the expense to fabricate such lies?  And honestly, I don’t want to know what theorists’ reasoning would be for this.

I watched a You Tube video today, 32 minutes in length, that insisted after viewing this video I would know that the earth was indeed flat and accept this notion as fact.

Nope! Didn’t happen.

The person narrating gives no comprehensive evidence.  We do not learn who he is or what his credentials are or how it is has happened upon this information. There was no mention about weather, tidal activity, gravitational pull, earthquakes, volcanic activity, etc.  There is no physical information to support this theory. At one point the argument was that we should feel ourselves moving through space if in fact we were rotating around the Sun and spinning like a top to boot!

And surely when we look out upon the horizon, we should see the curve!

Now I’ve flown in an airplane.  A Boeing 747 travels at approximately 567 miles per hour at 35,000 feet.  Do I feel like I’m hurtling along at an insane speed?  No.  In fact, it feels like I’m hardly moving at all.

This of course has to do with the laws of physics, speed, velocity and all that other lovely mathematical things that I have always been fascinated by even though I’m not quite wired to understand it all in depth.  Still, I get it.  And I’ve been on an airplane a few times.  I’ve seen the earth’s curvature as well.

I’ve photographed the moon and caught the various stages in all their glory.  The moon is definitely round.  Why then would the earth not be so?

Still,  Flat Earthers will tell you that the moon is not round and we only see one side of it.  And they do not offer explanation as to the various moon phases.

Still the questions that have arisen are not answered with hard core fact and proof.  For example, Flat Earthers insist that Antarctica is the end of the world and giant wall of ice some 350 feet high  is at the earth’s end to which it is unknown what lays beyond.  This sounds like an episode from  ‘Game of Thrones’.   And gravity does not exist, at least not in the way that we have been told.

Again no offer of what gravity actually is…just more vague rhetoric.

More concerning, however, is the mindset that happens when a conspiracy theory develops roots.  Why are we questioning what has been proven?  And why are there those among us who refuse to accept fact and choose to instead believe in information that, if anything, lends itself to something of a paranoid state?

If we’ve been lied to about the ‘planet’ we live on for all these years, what else are the powers that be not telling us?

Oh the horror!

In all seriousness, such groups are a little scary to me.  And now a Flat Earther has declared that the no forests exist on earth.  They are gone!

I have added the link to a wiki page link.  It simply has some question and answers.

Have a great day everyone and may the earth continue turn, round and round and round….

Peace.

Silver Linings

tumblr_static_space

I am a person who will experience an epiphany and suddenly the whole world and my existence in it makes perfect sense.  Yet as quickly as the insight arrived it sinks faster than the Titanic back into the abyss of my subconscious.  And for me it is a shadow that I will try to pursue, try to recover and analyze.

Usually I have no idea what I’m doing or what I’m trying to discover.  And I just realized that is one of the absolute joys in living this life.

Being open and present.

1. Sunrise Steveston

I would like to say that I’m open to new ideologies. new thoughts, however, I really don’t think there is anything really new about much of the information that draws me in.   The thing that changes is perspective.  Of how we see something, of how we regard our place in this world and participate in it.

For example, back in the day…way, way back human sacrifice to the Gods was acceptable and considered necessary.  The idea of having angry Gods was a frightening factor no doubt.

20151228_163108

And I often have these questions that creep into my mind’s eye regarding our existence.  How is it that we came to chart the stars?  How is it that we came to understand that they would never change and guide us on midnight journeys across foreign lands and oceans?

Back in 1632 Galileo would be tried and found guilty of heresy regarding his findings that the Earth was in fact circular and orbited around the Sun.

p0655a1k

And mathematics has had a long history in this world and just as I ponder how the written word came into being I too wonder how it is that the science of math began its journey as well.  I would think some of the first measurements would have been made by our own appendages of fingers, feet and hands.   Of course cycles such as daily, monthly, seasonal and birthing became recognized.

But how is it that someone decided they wanted to measure the speed of light from one star system to our own?

Slide7

Unfortunately a lot of information has been destroyed and lost to us over the millenniums.  And there is apparently information that the powers that be feel we should not be privy to.

I look for the silver linings in pretty much everything.  There is always a lesson to be learned or a fascinating piece of knowledge tucked away.

PIA09931-1920x1200

If I rise each day with the idea that I’m open to learning, open to discovering more of what constitutes life and its infinite layers then this is a good thing.  And while I know that life has the bookends of birth and death…it is the fabric in between that we weave that fascinates and humbles me.

Namaste.

The Moment in Time

qopbqynhgkefpumqduz2

A few nights ago I attended a short story open mic event. I noted that many of us seemed to collectively be in a mood to reflect and ponder on this world and the space that surrounds us.

A few of my fellow writers’ shared those moments when they realized that the world was far bigger than they could ever imagine and that the space they were gazing out at could well be infinite.

This induced a rather deep and ponderous thought process for me.

I began to study a little deeper the time factor after writing the piece inspired by the phrase ‘Time Died.’

0

I have been reviewing calendars and when they came into being.  I’ve been researching civilizations and when they too began to develop in earnest, and then of course there is my fascination with the written word and its evolution.

And all that I have read over the last few days has sparked the detective in me to try and find out some of life’s little mysteries.

I’m going to begin by following the importance of the Mayan calendar for the moment simply because there are some rather interesting facts that seem to correspond with this particular calendar and the manner by which it tells time and records history.

Five ages, each one 5,125 years approximately in length, have now passed in accordance with the timeline the calendar offers us. The most recent age to have completed its cycle occurred in December 2012.  We have now entered the sixth age.

mayan 2

I will try to create a brief timeline based upon the Mayan cycle of an Age.

Mayan culture wasn’t around when these ‘Ages’ began.  How is it that the Mayans came upon this knowledge and how is it that they ascertained it meaning that resulted in an exquisitely detailed calendar?

So many questions are slipping through me at this moment.

When did humanity have its ‘Aha!’ moment?

When did we collectively decide to record certain events? When did we begin to see the patterns the stars had mapped out for us?

And then begin to move around this planet based upon their guidance.

What I’ve found is that when I referenced the calendar certain very critical events in our evolution occurred in approximation with the calendar and its timeline.

imagesUBU7UCPX

The hunt was one of the first events to be recorded as many caves worldwide will tell us.

Several old caves containing Stone Age parietal art can be found in central India, South Africa, Australia, Namibia, Argentina and South-East Asia, among other locations around the world.

What occurred to inspire this activity?

When did we collectively begin to draw images of animals and tell stories through song?

Did humankind lay staring at the stars and have that moment of beautiful awareness of what they were and what they could become?

Or did something happen?

space_time_travel-wide

Home Sapiens have been around for at least 200,000 some odd years. It appears our species didn’t rush into the idea of civilization.

Like much of the life on this planet they likely lived simply and instinctually.

Much has been said about the Neanderthal and how they in fact died out.

Sure, there were obvious similarities between Neanderthal and Homo Sapiens of the day. There is no doubt that they met and co-mingled.

What would that experience have been like?

Your tribe is roaming this globe in search of food and water. In search of shelter and you come upon another being that looks somewhat like you…but different.

Were they afraid? Angry? Territorial?

And at some point around 35,000 some odd years ago humans began to record things.

Hand prints also began to litter the walls of caves worldwide.

untitled

Why?

(I was here)

That is the message that reaches out across the span of time. They had found an awareness of who they were and they didn’t want to be forgotten? In the images recorded what is it that they were trying to tell us?

Large20

Fabulous drawings began to adorn the walls of caves worldwide.

How is it that this phenomenon struck the inhabitants of this globe collectively?

What event precipitated this sense of keeping records? What instilled the desire and necessity to make it so?

A hand print on a wall is most definitely a record.

The Cave Chauvet in France is one the most pristine caves filled with art in such magnificent detail.

images567DU51J

And I have to wonder how it came to be so popular worldwide at that time considering they did not have mass communications…or did they?

Perhaps they did, only it was in a very different format than what we might imagine.

Every culture, every cave dweller would come to know the stars and their importance and they would come to know how to read them in order to note where they were on this planet.

How did they come by this knowledge?

That is why I am convinced that at some point collectively all humans from all the corners of this earth witnessed something quite remarkable.

Did they witness the arrival of the Gods?   Visitations perhaps?

Early humans would not have known just how expansive space really was and I can see how they imagined the Gods sitting upon those lofty clouds gazing down at the lot of them.

The similarity in stories world wide regarding the advent of God is remarkabley close. What changes is the interpretation of what was witnessed.  This too speaks to human nature.

At one point a few cultures had twelve such Gods running amok.  These beings had a variety of skills and powers.

Civilization had been born at this point. A hierarchy had been created to feed it that still exists to this day.

space 2

Somewhere along the way the idea of God was whittled down to just one entity.

Strangely or perhaps not, various cultures chose different definitions of this singular God to represent them, protect or define them.

It was in the fourth age that civilization seems to emerged and began form and develop.

And it was during the formation of this civilization thing that time was truly established and cycles were set down.

And how did we come to have the calendar that we currently have? This too has been changed over the course of time.

I had to smile as I read about the above as it seems we’ve really muddled through on recording time and its cycles.  From the Roman calendar, which was rather complicated as it only had ten months and the winter season was not included so there were 61 days unaccounted for. Curious.  The Julian calendar remedied this by adhering to the lunar cycles.  Still there were errors that were corrected when the Gregorian calendar was introduced back in 1532 or thereabouts.

Theories abound! And not all countries adopted the new calendar.

Geometrics then come into play. Between the 3rd and 4th Ages in accordance with the Mayan calendar a whole lot of building began to take place.

We are talking big building! Massive big, man!

Pyramids, temples, Stonehenge…

pyrmidstongehengeastecs

Again…not just in one location but all over this globe and likely there were many that did not stand the test of time or may well have been destroyed.

Behind the erection of these monuments there seems to have been a underlying call of divinity? Is this when men began to equate themselves as Gods?

The misinterpretation of power.

And we today have the conceit and ignorance to say they did not have the technology to do what they did regardless of the fact that these monuments stand before us as testament that indeed it was done.

Power is and always has been an intoxicating elixir.

Those at the helm of these projects must have indeed felt like gods.

Was this our imminent downfall?

Did we hunger for the knowledge that was bestowed upon us? Did we, in our human condition, decide at some point that we knew better?

Was there some level of anger shown toward the children of the stars sent to instruct us? In our infancy did we demand to much?

grid b cathie

And at the moment my imagination is skipping back to the innocence of when awareness truly occurred.

I see a meeting between early humans and star travelers. I see an intense and beautiful curiosity from both.

Did our space travelers ignore their own ‘prime directive’ (i.e. Star Trek) and feed us information that may wall have been forbidden to give?

Were we an experiment on a grand scale?

Where did the knowledge of the early sciences come from?

Mathematics, charting the stars, masonry, architecture?

All of these are exact in their implementation. They must be else wise they fail.

Travel, velocity and art are but conundrums in the grand scheme of things.

This planet hurdles through space on a daily basis. Not two days are ever the same.

p0655a1k

And were we, as humans, seeds that were planted amongst the stars?

And I must wonder if we were forgotten in this expanse we know as space.

There are times when as I slip into sleep or begin my ascent from it that the whisper of a long ago time speaks to me.

I was there.

Peace to all of you.

…When Time Died

RENT

I watched the film version of the Broadway musical ‘Rent’ a couple of nights ago.  I enjoyed it immensely and found myself in tears at times.  Much of what this production is about is still so very relevant.

There was a line in one of the songs that said….”when time died.”

I pulled those words out and held them up for further evaluation.  The whole concept of time and how we measure it.

time died

It is a human thing?  Or it is something is embedded in the D.N.A. of all living organisms?

We all adhere to cycles.  We must, after all our very life is a cycle measured by an infinite number of events and factors but the two constants are birth and death.

When humans first began their journey in this world it was their tenacity, duplicity and rather conniving nature that assisted in the push up to the top of the food chain.  That we are so good and creative when it comes to killing speaks volumes about our species.  Equally our capacity to love and build a community is just as stellar a point in our evolution and its success.

Regarding the equation of time, however, our reign on this planet is but a nanosecond, a blip or a dot amongst trillions upon trillions.

Hell, we are not even a smudge.

hourglass

Every part of my being is convinced that ‘intelligent’ life exists in the space that extends forever around us.

What is forever?  And what is time?

Forever, by definition, has no beginning and no end.  Time is a measurement of cycles, nothing more.  Or is it?

Did forever and time have a beginning?  Did they consummate their union to begin what we know as this universe?  Perhaps combined they make up the energy and concept known as God.

Is this a logical contemplation?

mayan

The Mayan’s developed a calendar that reflects a period of time, an era as it were that covers approximately 5,025 years.  How did they come by this knowledge and what was the purpose of trying to preserve it?

We all recall a couple of years ago the doomsayers who insisted that the end of world would come when the calendar ended and that time for us would then die.

Time will never die.  We will.

Time will never change.  We will.

Time is a constant just as forever is.

mayan 2

In many ways they are interchangeable. We are all little specs of energy that collectively make up our consciousness.  There have been moments when time crawled or at least it seemed as such.

These days it feels as if time is speeding up and we are all running at a break neck pace to keep up with it.

The deceptive perception of time overall lies in our imaginations.  Or does it?

time flys

The questions that this phrase ‘…when time died’ evoked are likely experienced by all of us at some point in our life.

We have all asked ourselves the universal question.

‘Why am I here and what is my purpose?’

What if the answer was simply ‘to be.’

Now I’ll go and ruminated on this for a while.

Have an awesome Sunday.  Namaste.

Trailers……You Lost Me at Please!

It has been absolutely beautiful weather wise here in Vancouver!  Summer has settled in quite nicely and the temperature is rising.

Nights are spent with a sheet covering me at most.  Even then it is often too hot.  I have one fan that is a good size that I lug from room to room.  I think I will head out this weekend and get a smaller one for my bedroom.

Last year I had taken the fan apart and cleaned it. (They can get quite dusty)

I put it together forgetting to screw the butterfly nut onto the propeller.  Propped it up in my room, turned it on and went to sleep.

A thunderous crash about an hour later had me leaping scared as hell from my bed.

You guessed it.  The propellor inside its cage had come off because someone we know (and love) (hey, I’m gonna milk it, okay?) forgot to put the screw on to hold it in place!

 fan 1

I can assure you it took quite some time to fall back into a blissful slumber after that little incident.

I am babbling though.  Gee. Haven’t done that in while, now have I?

So, yes, I need a smaller fan.  Not one that if it fell apart could potentially kill me.  That fan has never graced my bedroom since this occurrence. I have a far too active an imagination.  Visions of propellers flying through the night air slicing and dicing me like a kitchen chopper doesn’t induce one into the realm of relaxing nirvana.

As I drove into the office today I greeted the morning and cranked the radio up and rocked out to a few good tunes.

Lately the radio has been running ads for up coming TV summer series.  One is for ‘Extant’ that features Halle Berry.

The premise of the show is that she is an astronaught and goes out into space….alone…for a year. She is doing a bunch of strange experiments and somehow she manages to get knocked up though she has no memory of this.

(What did they put in her Tang?)

A line from the trailer played on the radio has Halle asking this question. Not too certain who she is talking to either.

“Please, just tell me what you did to me?”  Halle beseeches.

And I couldn’t help myself and just burst into laughter.  it just had such a strange connotation to it.

Truth be told, I really don’t know if I’ll check it out.  The premise for it sounds ‘odd’?

Thing is I like Spielberg’s body of work, so it may be worth a gander.  There are a few things though that don’t add up right off.  First, I don’t think they would ever send just one person out into space.

Too expensive.

The craft that she’s on appears to be quite big too.  That’s alot of work for one gal.

It seems to have the premise of the creepy old abanodoned house feel to it  that we see in horror flicks but it’s a few hundred thousand miles away floating about in space.  Hmmm.

(Halle… just don’t go into the ‘basement’ of the ship, ‘kay?)

Then of course she does go into the ‘basement’ and wakes up not knowing what the hell happened and pregnant to boot.

I wonder why they always make aliens look so creepy in Sci-Fi movies?  Quite often their appearance is lizard-like. I’ve always liked the aliens in Star Trek and Star Wars.  They were what we affectionatley refer to as ‘humanoid’.  They resembled us but had distinctive attributes that dictated what area of the galaxy they were from.  Better not be from the Eastside of intergalactic hood.

alien 3Kirk & Co

The wise ones and Cap. Kirk’s battle buddy.

As we well know, life forms can take on a multitude of images and they might well not be in a state that we would recognize.

Still something to be said for our collective imagination.

etalien 2

Careful, ET, my friend. An Alien dude from the Eastside is stirring up shit.  Ate the teacher and left the apple.

If I were to put together a sci-fi outer space series, I would want to explore the big picture.  Really get into the meat of other ‘civilizations’.  Whether they are civilized by our definition of this term, well, that would be a shrouded mystery, now wouldn’t it?

Next Generation was my favorite in the Star Trek series.  They explored a lot of psychological aspects that were really cool.

Next genborg 2

I would want to put together a series that took it even deeper than that.  One thing I would explore is the idea of ownership in space.

Kind of like how we, as humans, section off not only the land we thrive upon but the deep blue sea that surrounds us as well.  A portion  ‘belongs’ to Canada, to the USA, to Europe, to Africa, to Asia, etc.  The thing is, what one country does to their ‘piece of the ocean’ affects us all.  Just as what happens in another country on the other side of world does have an impact. It always will  Yet we have this NIMBY attitude.  Outta sight, outta mind as long as it doesn’t appear in my neck of the woods…I’m cool.

We are kind of like an ostrich with our head in the proverbial sand at times.

I would also want to explore the idea of intelligence.  The concept of it.  This really fascinates me. How we actually measure intelligence and decide who and what are bestowed with this gift of sorts.

I recently watched a documentary on ‘The Nature of Things’.  The show followed the migration of the Monarch butterfly and how its migration was discovered and mapped.

Such delicate creatures that undertake an amazing journey!  Why?  Don’t know. And they are equipped with sensors that are just incredible!   Is all that they do based upon instinct alone?

I would want to explore the crop circles as a language and turn them into 3D images.  (And yes, I do believe they are a language)

And maybe one day I will have the opportunity to develop such a show.

I wonder sometimes what would result if shows were created theoretically.  If ratings and advertising dollars weren’t an issue.

What would it be like to create…just because.

What would it be like to live….just because.

What would it be like to have no borders?

What would it be like to collaborate collectively on a global scale just because we are human.

The good of the people.  The respect and earnest interest in our well being…everywhere.  The desire to share knowledge freely.

We’ve put a price tag on so many things in this life.  Lebron James, for example plays basketball.  Yet the dude is worth multiple millions of dollars. Why?

I played basketball in high school.

Okay, I wasn’t very good and I’m a girl but I had fun! And I’m nice dammit!

My point being that what if the challenge wasn’t monetary?

What if the challenge wasn’t power and control?

What if the challenge was…just because.   Hmmmm.

In any case, I will toddle off now.  Enjoy your day and as Mr. Spock so fondly states,

“Live long and prosper.”

Out of This World!

The Mars-1 project was being discussed this morning on the radio.

The call was put out for volunteers to be trained to go to Mars in 2024 and attempt to colonize the planet. It has been narrowed down and fifty-two Canadians are in the running for the mission.

Now the thing about this is that there will be no coming back.  Once they leave earth…they are gone for good.

And I got to thinking about exploring space.  I wondered how big the ships will be?  What amenities they’ll have on them?  Won’t be the Enterprise, I can assure you that!

And what will be the cost and who will be footing the bill for this?  Apparently they’ll be sending out 4 people every year or two.

I’m really not too sure on the timing of this thing.

And what about oxygen?  How do you replicate this in such a hostile environment forever?

Hubble Crab NebulaHubble Deep Field

The Deep Space shot reminds me of a line from Space Odessey:2001 “There are millions of them!”

I thought about Bruce Cathie’s findings on the energy grid that surrounds our planet.  Accordingly, there are portals by with space travel could be utilized safely and far more efficiently.  I wonder why these things are not being researched, or are they?

You see, I believe we’ve been visited and observed many times by extrateresstials or aliens for lack of a better term.

And in truth, I don’t like this terminology.  Hell, we used this term when someone from another country enters without proper authorization.

But I digress.

Hubble TarantulaHubble Orion Nebula

Perhaps space travel is far more accessible than we ever imagined. The problem with government and the powers that be is what they don’t want us to know.

Unfortunately, there has never been a sharing of information freely in this world of ours.  I find this sad.

It becomes a race.  It becomes about control and this mistaken idea that with this knowledge comes extreme power.

Not true.  Ultimate power is a force that cannot be reckoned  with and will display openly and honestly every mystery in her infinite vulnerabilty.

It’s not supposed to be easy to understand, if at all.  It will never be possible to harness and manifest this energy.  It just is.

And it always will be.

And when you think you have the power, when you think you’re in control, well, you’ll be surprised how quickly the playing field will narrow.  And you’ll isolate yourself not wanting to lose what was never yours in the first place.

So what is it that we want, really?

For those who want to explore space, I applaud them.  I hope they’ve had the opportunity to explore our world before they give it up for good.

I guess I wonder at the ideology of sending humans to inhabit a dead planet or at least a hostile one.

Why not send them to explore the universe?  I mean, they’re not coming back, correct?

Why this fascination with Mars?

MarsMars 6

I think I’d like to see a manned crew who is obviously willing to give their lives go on one hell of an adventure.

To explore the very fabric of this universe, to explore dark matter, worm holes, threads….

Can you imagine this?  Let me take you there.

———————–

You’ve been traveling through space for approximately ten years.  The body now conditioned to replicated nutrition.  The three members of your team are lifelines.  The moods, the isolation, the fear have at times been overwhelming.

But always when you gaze out of the portal window you are humbled and amazed by what you see.

Earth exists in only in your memory now.  Sometimes you wonder if it ever really existed.  You’ve been unable to see her blue smile for some six years now.

Still, you can recall a summer evening shower, a full moon and a cool winter night.

moon 3

There were so many things going wrong on the planet when you left it.  Yet you still have those dreams of laying naked in the sand at midnight with your lover, staring up at the stars and wondering…

And now you’re there.  The beach you once laid upon lives only in your mind’s eye.

You’ve had some scares throughout the years.  You’ve had moments that were indescribable.  No words in the human vocabulary can parlay what you’ve witnessed, yet you try.

In your weekly submissions that are  radioed back to earth you’ve done your damnest to write what you see, what you feel.

And how many times have you pondered those words, that energy slipping silently through space.

Will those on earth hear your screams?  Your fears? Your amazement and awe? Your regret? Your continued curiousity?

Then transmissions began to seriously falter.

Your crew mates, your family, your lifelines…all of you began to wonder if this was the end?

Oh, the heat, then the cold.  The ship was vibrating violently yet perfectly still.

Were you dead?

You’ve come to understand energy in a way never before comprehended or considered.

And this, there was a darkness, a blackness that you entered into.

But it wasn’t nothing…It was everything!

black hole 2Black hole 1black hole3

Images of Black Holes

It’s density unlike anything you’d ever experienced. You were weightless and crushed simultaneously.  The energy and colour that moved through you like a thick molasses then reduced to water then to air.

How could this be?

Are you dead?  The question persists.  Would you be thinking these things if you were?  Would you be thinking at all?

You are but a molecule, a speck.  Just like the other infinitesimal molecules and specks that never end in this universe that never ends.

wormhole 1wormhole 2

Images of Wormholes

A memory of your first remembered Christmas springs to mind, and now your crying.

At six years of age you stared up into the night sky looking for the lights on Santa’s sleigh.  Exhaustion had triumphed but when you woke, there was the telescope and the game Operation.  You had asked every mall Santa you could find for these items.

Ensuring each of them that you would find the cure to all the ills of this world.  And now, God knows how many light years from your planet of birth you are, but you never fulfilled that pledge, did you?

How long you were in this transit state is unclear.  Time really has no meaning here.

And where is out here exactly?

The ship has slowed, you are looking to your crew and they at you.

What just happened?  This is not said but all of you are thinking it.

Words that push to the surface seem insufficient and insufferably small to describe what has occurred.

In this moment, you’ve travelled three times the distance that it took ten years to cover from earth to the point of entering into whatever it is you entered into.

And what are you seeing now?

You’ve landed on this enigma of your imagination?  Is it real?

Sensations assault you and questions from where, you don’t know are put to you.

“I was human.”

Are you still human?  What does this mean now?

Memory takes you back to science class.  Darwin’s theory of evolution.  Lucy, the hairy beast of a woman traipsing over the continent of Africa.

And you are laughing now…it is a human thing to do, so yes, you are still human.

From that little blue dot known as Earth.
